English Writing: Introductory Statement/Paragraph. Please help edit it?

Symbolism is often used in literature by writers to reveal a new awareness achieved by a major character in a story. Symbols are developed as the story progresses, it influences and changes the character of the story and also those revolve around it. A symbol plays an important role of the story and helps it build up. In “Boys and Girls”, an example of how symbols play a key part in the story is revealed. Through the narrator’s point of view, Alice Munro demonstrates to us the struggle the narrator is experiencing and the self-discovery she is searching for within herself. The narrator must face the problem alone, yet the characters around her will impact on her decision greatly. (want to end with a sentence about my three paragraphs: new understanding of self/experience with self, experience of relationship with father, experience of her “place” in society)
