Why do insects die after minutes of being exposed to rubbing/isopropyl alcohol?

In insects, gas exchange occurs through openings on the body surface. Alcohol (or any other liquid) will interfere with this process. Alcohol will also tend to desiccate the insect. Depending on the amount used, alcohol will also affect the nervous system.
