Is it normal to hate your step dad that you kick his ***?

I hate my step dad with a burning passion. And he doesnt think too highly of me- trust me, ive had him tell me enough in my face. Hes a dick, a hypocrite, and basically a big *** kid. We argue and fight frequently. Alot of this animosity towards me started a few yrs ago in an arguement about his religous hypocrisy.As a result, he does things to me out of spite and trys to humilate me in front of his friends while he plays cards and whore-monger. I plan on coming back after my Marine basic training once im big and strong and ill show him im not his punchingbag anymore.He knows its coming. You should have seen his face when i told im going to the Marines. But i cant help but wonder when i see my friends have such good relationships with their fathers and wonder, is this normal?
