My 7 year old daughter lost her tooth?

K, my 7 year old daughter had a loose front tooth; it has been super loose and wiggly for about 2 or 3 weeks. Tonight she said she wiggled it and it fell out. Normal. But where the tooth was appears to be a hanging or protruding blood vessel of some kind. No pain or discomfort but about half the size of the tooth. What is it and waht should I do? I told her its normal because I didn't want her freaking out. Any advice?
